The exhilaration of nature at its purest
The Ribatejo landscape is iconic and beautiful, always influenced and defined by the majestic river Tagus. The horizons shift according to the seasons and the irrigating effect of the river itself, so there is constant change and you'll always find a varied landscape with its associated flora and fauna.
The vast low lying wetlands are the sprawling floodplains of the Tagus. These are the fertile soils, producing rice and wheat and lush pasture for cattle and horses.
To the north, on the right bank of the Tagus is harsher terrain where the olive and the vine reign and symbolize the alluring gastronomy of the region. On the left bank of the river lie the heathlands, famed for the coriander that grows freely there.
